Kavanagh Crane Hire was delighted to be invited back to the BAM UK & Ireland project in Waterford as part of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Safety Week 2025 programme. This marks our second consecutive year participating at the request of the site operatives—something we are incredibly proud of and see as a strong endorsement of our team’s commitment to promoting safe lifting practices across the industry.
This year, the CIF Safety Week theme for October 21st focused on Critical Risks, with a particular emphasis on lifting operations—one of the most high-risk activities carried out on construction sites. To support BAM’s ongoing safety culture, Kavanagh Crane Hire delivered an interactive and practical demonstration centred on the inspection of lifting accessories and the correct use of lifting attachments.
Our session highlighted:
- How to identify wear, defects, and damage in lifting equipment
- Best-practice methods for safe attachment use on site
- Key steps in reducing risk during everyday lifting operations
- The importance of regular inspections and adherence to industry standards
The demonstration encouraged active participation, with spot prizes awarded to those who successfully answered safety-related questions and correctly identified damaged equipment. The enthusiasm and engagement from the BAM team contributed to the effectiveness of the session and reinforced the shared responsibility we all have in maintaining safe working environments.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone at BAM, particularly Brenda McMahon, for the warm welcome and for inviting us back once again. It was a pleasure to support such a dedicated and safety-driven team.
Kavanagh Crane Hire would also like to wish BAM continued success as the project progresses toward completion. The new footbridge will provide sustainable access to the North Quays and represents a significant piece of infrastructure for Waterford City—one we are proud to support through safe and professional lifting operations.
