The Grove GMK5130-2 is a 130-tonne all-terrain crane mounted on a five-axle chassis. Its primary lifting tool is a 60-meter, six-section telescopic boom featuring the TWIN-LOCK™ pinning system, which provides a maximum tip height of 63 meters. For additional reach and versatility, the crane can be equipped with several lattice extensions. These include an 11 or 18-meter swingaway jib that can be manually offset at 0°, 20°, or 40°, or hydraulically luffing under load from 0° to 40°. A 26 or 32-meter boom extension (jib) is also available, which incorporates intermediate lattice sections. The maximum system length reaches up to 95 meters, as indicated on the cover. The crane’s counterweight system provides a basic 8.5-tonne counterweight, with a heavy, road-transportable configuration available up to 40.1 tonnes for increased lifting capacity.
A key feature of the GMK5130-2 is its powerful and efficient crane superstructure. It is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM904LA 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 129 kW (175 HP), which drives a hydraulic system with two separate circuits and a load-sensing axial piston pump. The crane features a fully electronic control system with electro-hydraulic levers that automatically return to neutral, integrated with the LMI (Load Moment Indicator) and engine management via CAN-BUS. The superstructure also includes a two-speed hoist with a planetary gear and brake, and two slewing gears with axial piston motors. The crane’s safety is managed by a load moment and independent anti-two block system that provides audio-visual warnings and control lever lock-out, displaying boom angle, length, radius, tip height, and load information.
For transport, the crane is optimized for efficient road travel. The carrier features a 10 x 6 x 10 drive configuration as standard, with an optional 10 x 8 x 10 configuration. It is equipped with the MEGATRAK™ suspension system, which is hydropneumatic with hydraulic locking, and provides automatic leveling on the road with a range of +170 mm/-130 mm. The steering system is a dual-circuit hydraulic system with an emergency pump, and it includes independent rear axle steering for all-wheel and crab steering modes. The braking system includes a dual-circuit pneumatic service brake with ABS, an engine exhaust brake, and a spring-applied parking brake on the 2nd, 4th, and 5th axles. The brochure details various hook block options, from a 8-tonne single-sheave block to a 120-tonne five-sheave block, providing flexibility for different lifting tasks. The crane’s safety and convenience features also include an aluminium, tiltable operator’s cab, armrest-integrated crane controls, and an engine-dependent heater.
