The Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 is a 130-tonne mobile crane mounted on a five-axle chassis. Its primary lifting tool is a 60-meter telescopic boom, which features a single-cylinder telescoping system with the rapid-cycle TELEMATIK system for automatic extension. For additional reach and versatility, the crane can be equipped with a 10.8 to 19-meter folding jib (Klappspitze), which can be attached at 0°, 20°, or 40°, with an optional hydraulic cylinder allowing continuous adjustment from 0° to 40°. A 7 to 14-meter lattice boom extension is also available, which provides a higher attachment point for the folding jib. The maximum system length, combining the 60-meter boom with the 19-meter folding jib and a 14-meter boom extension, reaches an impressive 92 meters, as shown in the load charts. This makes the crane well-suited for a variety of lifting tasks, including industrial construction and infrastructure projects.

A key feature of the LTM 1130-5.1 is its powerful and efficient crane superstructure. It is equipped with a 4-cylinder Liebherr diesel engine (type D934S A6) producing 145 kW (197 PS), which drives a diesel-hydraulic system with two axial piston variable displacement pumps. The crane features an electric “Load Sensing” control system that allows for simultaneous operation of four working motions. The hoist gear is a Liebherr winch with an integrated planetary gear and spring-loaded static brake. The slewing gear is a constant motor with a planetary gear and spring-loaded static brake, and it is switchable between open and locked modes as standard. The crane’s safety is managed by the LICCON overload protection system, which includes a test system, hoist limit switch, and safety valves against pipe and hose ruptures. The counterweight system provides a basic ballast of 29.3 tonnes, which can be increased to a total of 42 tonnes with an additional 12.7-tonne counterweight.

For transport, the crane is optimized for efficient road travel. The carrier features a 10 x 6 x 10 drive configuration as standard, with an optional 10 x 8 x 10 configuration that additionally drives the first axle for increased traction. The suspension is hydropneumatic with automatic leveling (Niveaumatik) and hydraulic locking on all axles. The steering system is a ZF-Servocom hydraulic steering with two circuits and an auxiliary pump, and it includes special steering programs for different driving situations, with the rear axles being speed-dependent and fixed for straight-ahead driving at higher speeds. The crane’s braking system includes an all-wheel servo-air brake with disc brakes on all axles, a spring-loaded parking brake, and a sustained-action brake that combines an engine exhaust flap brake with the Liebherr ZBS additional brake system and an Intarder in the transmission.
